Eating the skin of fried poultry or indulging in more than just the smell of cured bacon, actually has a health benefit that can help those without cholesterol problems. These greasy foods can be a natural anti-aging benefit to aging skin. These foods, contain a high amount of the amino acid, Hydroxyproline, which helps in rebuilding collagen.

So when eating that fried chicken, be sure to eat the skin to get the actual healthy benefit for your skin.

Alternatives That Compliment Traditional Therapy

Alternatives That Compliment Traditional Therapy

Therapy can be such a powerful tool, but sometimes you want to have something that feels a little less clinical. Treatment can be emotionally and mentally challenging, too, leaving you feeling like you have been pushed to your limits. Typically therapists are great at what they do, and that is long-term work taking place. Alternative therapies can often be a little more gentle for the person taking part.

So if you are currently in therapy, or on the waiting list to be seen, you might like to explore some other options.

Yoga

This is an interesting one because you might not think that yoga would have such a significant impact on you mentally. But people who take part in yoga classes or do it from home find that it brings a considerable sense of peace. The breathing is controlled and designed to relax you and boost your relaxation and focus. The stretching releases tension that you are holding in your body too.

Chiropractor

The human body is a unique complex organism that has evolved for particular environments and conditions. Unfortunately, these natural conditions are quite far removed from everyday life. If you suffer from back pain, neck pain, or any other body aches, visiting a chiropractor is an excellent way to complement conventional therapy and optimize your body for better health and wellbeing, and better productivity.

Massage

Trained reflexologists can work absolute wonders when it comes to triggering the right pressure points for you. As well as the room being warm and smelling divine, you’ll come away feeling lighter and relaxed. The music and silence that you get to experience is a great way to quiet your mind too.

Meditation

You can meditate any time the mood takes you, but in general, you are looking to have at least ten minutes of meditation per day. This trains your mind in dealing with intrusive thoughts. Listening to guided meditation with an app like Headspace or Calm will help you get started. Before long meditation doesn’t seem like something you have to do, but rather something you want to have in your life. Those ten minutes a day can give you a sense of peace and calm. Some guided meditation sessions will also talk through issues you might be facing at work or in your personal life.

Acupuncture

This is a traditional Chinese medicine that has a lot of history. Incredibly fine needles and placed into the skin on specific pressure points. They say that acupuncture is ideal for helping you to reduce stress levels, lower pain in your neck, back and joints, help with migraines and headaches, improve your immune system and enhance mental clarity. It has long been recommended as a form of alternative medicine and therapy. You’ll need a few sessions to start to feel the effects, but the routine of going can be a comfort for many.

Journaling

The joy of writing about your life can be as expressive and artistic as you like, or you can simply bullet point a few things. The act of writing allows us to explore our feelings and thoughts a little more in one of the safest spaces. And, if you like to draw, then this is even more enjoyable.

Alternative therapies and medicines can have a lot of power, aside from the belief that they are working, most of the time when it makes you feel good, and it is worth adding into your weekly or daily routine.

With the temperatures soaring in the hot months, many people tend to get heat exhaustion. It can come on very quickly and very simply.

It is best if you feel symptoms of fatigue, dizziness and nausea, to get
out of the heat as quickly as possible. Be sure to stay hydrated with
water. (If you haven’t found yourself urinating in a long time during
the heat, start pounding glasses of water)

So, an easy way to keep your core temperature down, is to put ice or cool compresses on key areas for a short period of time frequently. Those areas are wrists (above the palms), behind the ear lobes, ankles and inner thighs (for extreme heat conditions). Cooling these areas will help you beat the heat and keep symptoms of exhaustion at bay for a little while.

Tips on Triggers: More Than a Weigh In.

Woman Stepping onto ScaleA lot of times when trying to loose weight, people will “hit a wall”. The scale stops being inspiring, because the number stopped reducing. That can trigger feelings of discouragement along with other emotions. Don’t let it bother you.

Easier said then done, I know, but if you keep up with your regimen; other changes are still happening inside your body. And, within a few days to a few weeks the scale will start to move again, sometimes substantially.

That is why I say take weekly pictures too, it will visually show you those subtle differences that can trigger accomplishment and keep you maintaining that good feeling. When you can feel and see the positive changes, you will feel the determination to continue on your road to good health.

Setting the Mood. Tips On Triggers:

Tips on Triggers: Setting the Mood.

Young multi-racial couple. Young lovers who are sexualTrying to set a sexy mood can be easy, but some feel they have no clue where to start. The 5 senses are the things to trigger when creating this moment of love.

Sense of sound- Playing a background music that your partner likes is a good way to set a mood. Remember keep it low, only as a background noise so you have no interruptions of communicating.

Sense of smell- Picking scents that appeal to your partner is always a good start. Try to stay away from food smells if you are trying to skip a meal because that can wake up a stomach instead of the libido. (SideNote: Vanilla is known to be a good aphrodisiac for men. Women usually react better with a floral scent like lily or jasmine)

Sense of sight- Looking like you’ve gone a little extra on your appearance is a good way to trigger a complement from your partner.

Sense of taste- Making sure you have a clean taste with maybe a touch of sweet to the skin is always a treat. (SideNote: Sweet doesn’t mean sticky, stay away from flavored lubes until your partner is involved with your plan. Some folks are sensitive to flavored lubes and condoms.)
