Hair Dryer Smells Burnt, Clean It Out Easy. Tips in Action:

Hair Dryer Smells Burnt, Clean It Out Easy.

If the hair dryer is smelling like it’s burning every time you turn it on, it’s time to clean it out. Dust and lint get trapped in the back screen over time. Once that happens, it can clog the hair dryer from working properly. Cleaning it out can prevent the dryer from catching fire or burning out the fan and motor.

Remove the Lint

Trying to pick the link out the back can be tedious and difficult to do with your fingertips. However, it’s easy to remove lint from the back of the dryer with a simple trick, and that simple trick can prevent a major disaster.

The Power of the Cotton Swab

Cotton swabs in the home are usually used to clean out your ears or help with makeup techniques. However, the cotton swap is a magic-like tool when cleaning the hair dryer.

First, remove the back plastic on the hair dryer if it’s removable to expose the screen completely. If it’s not possible to remove the screen cap, it’s okay, you can work around it.

Next, use a clean dry cotton swab around the screen or in between the blades. The dry cotton will sweep up the lint like a professional cleaner.

Then, flip the swab to the clean side, and wipe the area again to remove any excess.

Finally, put the dryer back together and give it a test run. It should run as good as new.

Final Thoughts

Cleaning the screen every month will improve the long-term integrity of the small appliance.

Also, if the dryer still smells like it’s burning or if it is making any strange noises after cleaning, it might have something more going on than a simple lint clog. Unfortunately, that is usually the time to invest in a new hair dryer.

5 Quick Ways To Take Care Of Your Car

5 Quick Ways To Take Care Of Your Car

No car owner wants to shell out a lot of money to repair their vehicle regularly. To avoid this, you’ll need to perform at least basic car maintenance. That means knowing how to take care of your car, which doesn’t need to be as complicated as you’d think.

Five quick tips can help you do this. While they’ll seem like some time and effort, it’ll avoid you spending a lot of money on repairs. Prevent the hassle by focusing on a few specific areas.

How To Take Care Of Your Car: 5 Quick Tips

1. Check Tire Pressure

Maintaining your car tires’ pressure is an essential part of making sure you can drive safely. If they’re not properly inflated – or even over-inflated – the car mightn’t brake or handle the way it should, leading to a greater risk of accidents.

You’ll naturally want to avoid that. Maintaining the right tire pressure also avoids the risk of a blowout, increases your fuel efficiency, and gives your tires a longer lifespan. There’s no reason not to keep an eye on this.

Even giving them the right pressure doesn’t take too long, and should be relatively simple to do.

2. Follow The Owner’s Manual

The owner’s manual should be seen as the be-all-and-end-all of owning and looking after your car. You mightn’t be able to look after the basic car maintenance tasks without it. If you’ve lost your manual, there’s no reason to get worried.

You can find a manual for almost every type of vehicle online. If you have a Tahoe, for instance, then check out a Chevy Tahoe owner manual online. Armed with the right manual, you shouldn’t have a problem looking after the basic maintenance tasks you need to do.

3. Check The Oil

Your car needs motor oil to function properly. While it’ll already have the appropriate amount when you buy the car, you’ll need to check it and top it up regularly to make sure everything keeps running smoothly.

The oil’s main job is to lubricate the engine and make sure nothing gets jammed. If there’s no oil, there’s no lubrication, which leads to more and more issues coming up. It could also lead to more combustion in the vehicle, as the motor oil ensures the smooth transfer and absorption of heat.

Check the oil level every few weeks to make sure there’s enough. Top it up when there isn’t.

4. Keep It Clean

Keeping your car clean is often one of the more overlooked parts of owning a vehicle. It’s something you’ll need to do if you want to take pride in it, however. One of the more notable – and obvious – parts of this is not treating your car like it’s a garbage can.

If you have a coffee during your drive, for example, make sure to toss the empty cup into an actual bin. The same can be said for anything else you bring into the car. It’s also worth washing the outside of your car regularly.

Tree sap, bird poop, and similar things can all eat away at your paint over time. Prevent this by giving it a deep clean every few weeks. Even taking it to a car wash can be recommended.

5. Change The Air Filter

Your air filter could be overlooked when you’re taking care of your car. That’s why it often ends up causing issues in time. You’ll need to change your air filter regularly to avoid this. While that can vary depending on the air quality where you live, it’s recommended you change it every 12,000 miles.

Doing this increases your fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, and prolongs your engine’s lifespan. You shouldn’t need to spend too much time and effort on this, as it’s one of the easier car maintenance tasks to look after.

It only takes a few simple steps, provided you already know where the air filter is.

How To Take Care Of Your Car: Wrapping Up

Nobody wants to deal with regularly repairing their car. It not only wastes a lot of time, but you’ll end up spending a significant amount of money on them. By regularly changing the air filter, checking the oil, and following the owner’s manual’s advice, you can avoid much of this.

With a few other basic car maintenance tips, you can make sure your car is as looked-after as possible. You shouldn’t need to see the mechanic too often once you’ve looked after each of the above.

Save yourself the money and stress by making sure you get all of the above tips done.

How To Fix Slippery Shoes

How To Fix Slippery Shoes

A great pair of shoes can help anyone conquer the world in front of them. However, some fabulous footwear doesn’t fit all the criteria’s needed to make them the perfect pair. Some shoes are too big, too small, pinchy, unsupported, or slippery. Most of these issues can be discovered just by trying them on. Unfortunately, slippery shoes might only be realized after you have them out on the town. So what are some ways how to fix slippery shoes?

Shoe Sole Grips

There are shoe sole grips that can be placed on the bottom of the shoes that feel like a sandpaper sticker. They are easy to apply, just peel and stick. This option lasts for a while depending on how many miles the soles take on.

Duct Tape Fixes Everything

The magic of duct tape can help you fix something that’s broken or remove a wart. In addition, if you are out on the town and slipping all over the place, find yourself some duct tape. Break off about an inch and a half and place on the bottom of each shoe. The duct tape can still have a little slip, but it will gather much more traction than without it.

To make it have more traction, scratch the sole with the duct tape in place against the blacktop or the concrete sidewalk. The scratches in the tape will be like groves that can hug the ground better.

Hairspray for a Temporary Fix

Hairspray isn’t only for keeping your hair in place. Spraying the bottom of your shoes with hairspray will leave a tacky grip that can make it more bearable to walk. It won’t last, but it will work for an evening.

Spray the sole generously. Wait a minute for it to almost dry completely. A little bit of stick will do the trick.

Sandpaper to Scratch the Surface

Using fine-grit sandpaper on the sole of your shoes will allow enough groves to provide more traction. Scratch the surface in a circular motion or in a side-to-side sweep. Do not over-sand the sole. The point is to gain traction, not make the shoes look rustic with sandpaper. By over-sanding, you could make it smooth again or potentially damage the sole.

Any of these options can help you gain some traction on a night out. The peel and stick option is the most reliable. However, I’ve used the duct tape option on several occasions with great success. Nevertheless, use what you got to stay sturdy on your night out since not all shoes are created equal.

Why Teach Your Kids to Ride Bikes

Why Teach Your Kids to Ride Bikes

Is there anything more memorable for a child learning how to ride a bike for the first time with two wheels? Learning to ride a bike brings back vivid memories from Christmas gifts wrapped with ribbons of helmets and shin pads, and invokes memories of bubbling along the road while your mum or dad holds the bottom of the bike to help you to stay balanced.

It was something every child wanted to master and when your child’s friends get all the training wheels taken off you’re going to want to know how to help them to learn how to ride a bike. We are able to commute to work with the ebikes these days, but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy traditional bikes for your child to learn. Here are some of the reasons that you should allow your child to learn to ride a bike and you should help them do it.

  • It’s such an achievement. What child doesn’t love the feeling of accomplishment that comes from learning to ride a bike for the first time? Kids love to accomplish things on their own, and when they achieve a goal it boosts their confidence in a big way. The same applies to riding a bike. Usually, children begin with training wheels so that they can lead to balance. Once they’ve mastered pedaling and they must have their training wheels, you might take off one of those training wheels to help them to learn how to balance further. It’s only then you can take off both and start teaching them how to maintain that center of balance with two wheels.
  • It can build both legs and core muscles. Exercise is so important for growing children and when they learn how to ride a bike they are not just doing it to enjoy themselves. They are developing stronger core and leg muscles that they’re really going to enjoy building. Children have to really learn how to balance and it’s not just about where their hands are placed, but the way that the size sits on the bike and the way that their bodies can hold themselves upright.
  • They feel like they fit. Social contact for children is so important, and learning to ride a bike is going to help them to feel like they fit in. They want to fit in with their friends and they want to make sure that they are able to join in with any bike riding and going over to their friends’ homes. When your child learns to ride a bike, they are learning to do something big for themselves, and you should encourage that.
  • They can get around. When children learn to ride their bikes they are going to be able to go to the park and to their friends’ homes by themselves or with you by their side. They might even start riding to school.
  • Biking is healthy. It’s a simple way for children to run errands.
  • They might even learn to cycle professionally.
