5 Fantastic Methods to Become More Independent

5 Fantastic Methods to Become More Independent

There are so many reasons for losing your spark or independence in life. People can make you feel less than important or even worthless. You could go through some knock backs in your life that could cause you lose faith in yourself. Whatever has happened to you in the recent months, you should know that all is not lost. Whether you’re trying to get over a previous relationship or rediscover your unique personality again, there are so many ways you can achieve this. Consider the following five fantastic methods to becoming more independent. Keep an open mind and you will soon be celebrating your success.

1. Learn How to Drive

If you have always been heavily reliant on other people to take you from A to B, then you might just need to give yourself the freedom you deserve. Learning how to drive can be quite daunting, but if you contact the best driving school, you will soon be able to gain the independence you’re looking for. You will be able to hop into your car whenever you want and
hit the roads. You won’t ever have to rely on anybody else taking you places; you will be free at last!

2. Let Go of Your Past

One of the only ways that you can feel completely independent is by leaving the past behind you. If something has happened to you quite recently, you might struggle to recover straight away. However if you can start focusing on the positives in your life, you will soon see a huge improvement in your mood.

3. Be Financially Secure

When you have to rely on other people for money it can feel quite embarrassing. Everybody wants to be able to look after themselves, but if you have been struggling recently, you might just have to make a few changes. Perhaps you could get a second job in order to support yourself a little better. It might take a while to feel completely free of the people you depend on, but it’s an excellent start.

4. Live for Yourself

You should look to live every single day just for you. You shouldn’t have to make other people happy or tend to their needs over yours. If you want to take a vacation, then do it! Nobody should be allowed to stop you.

5. Write Down Your Goals and Chase Them

When you are setting goals for yourself it’s always a great idea to write them down. As soon as you have something tangible to work towards, it’s so much easier to get there. Be patient with yourself and start chasing those dreams one step at a time.

It is going to take a while to rebuild yourself after a few knock backs, but all is not lost. If you have the willpower and tenacity to make a change in your life then you will be successful. Just taking this first step is a huge accomplishment that you should be very proud of. Never let anybody tell you that you’re less than second best, because you are here to achieve greatness and find yourself once again.

You Can’t Reach Your Goals, And Here’s Why…

January gets a pretty bad rep, and we get it. It’s going back to work after a neat little break, it’s the financial ruin you find yourself in thanks to spending all of your early December pay check on fun, it’s trying to make it through January 15th (the most depressing day of the year) and it is failing to achieve your New Year’s resolution (again!), which means that once motivating start to the year becomes the catalyst to more failed goals. It’s brutal.

But what if it wasn’t January’s fault? What if you haven’t been hitting your goals simply because you haven’t known how to set them properly and accomplish them effectively?

We’re trying to tell you that missing the mark thus far has nothing to do with your willpower, determination or ambition, but with mistakes you’ve made when it comes to setting your goals, which is why we have pulled together a list of ways you can fix these mistakes starting today.

  1. Vague Plans, Vague Results

The number one reason you have not been achieving your goals is your goals are more vague than a child telling you about their day at school. Saying you are going to get out of debt is not enough. You need to be more specific. You need to say you are going to research debt relief programs. Saying you are going to get fit is too vague. You need to say you are going to run two miles every morning. That’s the secret.

  1. Have A Way Of Measuring

You can’t possibly know if you have achieved your goals if you have no way of measuring them. You need to create a map so that you can see exactly where you are with your efforts. You need to be able to answer questions like, “how much?” and “how far is left to go?” and “how many?” if you can do this then you will know exactly where you are at and where you are with your goals.

  1. The Impossible Is Unattractive

The moment you realise you have overstretched yourself and your goals are, in fact, impossible, you will give up. It’s natural. There is just no point in trying to achieve something that can’t be done. Instead, make sure you set goals where obvious change can be noticed within a week. Yes, you can do anything you set your mind to, but it will be so much easier to start by understanding your capabilities and then using this to guide your goal setting attitude.

  1. Not Just The Long-Term View

The reason why things like climate change don’t motivate us in the way they should is they are too big to wrap our heads around. They seem so far away. That is why our efforts to be more eco-friendly fizzle out. The same goes with your long-term goals, which is why you need to litter your path to these with smaller, short-term goals; ones that you can accomplish here and now. Saying that you are going to get a book published is a great example of this. Instead, what you should be doing, is setting smaller goals to help, such as getting your writing into publications and magazines. That way your focus won’t wilt like warm lettuce.
