Getting Ready for Summer Skin and Hair

Getting Ready for Summer Skin and Hair

As the season changes, so does our skin and hair. Preparing for any season takes a little TLC so your body doesn’t pay the price. Dry skin is common in the winter, but as we transcend from winter to spring, dry skin and hair tends to happen.

Signs that Your Skin and Hair Needs Moisture

Dry, peeling or breaking skin or hair is usually a good sign that you need to hydrate yourself. The best way to hydrate your skin and hair is by drinking plenty of water. Eight, eight ounces of water is needed per day. I’ve heard time and time again from people saying, ‘I can’t drink eight bottles of water per day’. Well, first off, most bottles of water are sixteen ounces, so you would only need to drink four if that was your only source. However, fruits and veggies hold a lot of water. Eating your daily servings help contribute to your daily needed water content.

Keep Clean and Balanced

When your skin is clean and hydrated, you will be able to maintain a healthier balance in skin tone. Oil or shiny spots on skin is also a sign that you need hydration. The body is genius. It knows how to try and hydrate on its own, unfortunately, it will only show up in certain areas like, the T-zone. If are part of the percentage of the population that has honest oily skin issues, check with your dermatologist for your best options. For the others, in most cases, when you try to dry out the area, it will only make the shiny areas worse. Instead, try hydrating.

Add Oils

Adding oils into your diet can help promote moisture and hydration. Nuts are a great source to maintain great health and hydration. Also, try cooking with olive oil, coconut oil or sunflower seed to nourish your body. You’ll find these benefits are helping you from the inside out. I personally like adding external oils into my daily regimen. Essential oils have plenty of healing properties. One of my favorite external oils that has multiple purposes is Argan oil. Use Argan oil on hair, skin or nails for hydration, balancing skin tone, calming inflammation, reducing wrinkles and preventing hair-breakage or skin breakouts while stimulating hair and nail growth. Greenesthetics.com offers a 100% Moroccan Argan oil as well as other cool products including their new Alightener Foam for teeth whitening while cleaning your mouth tray or an Invisalign retainer.

Exfoliate to Look Polished

Removing dead skin cells is an important part of maintaining skin health. Removing the build up can help reduce pores and remove fine lines. Also, exfoliating requires a light scrub, so you’re providing a light massage to the skin, which stimulates cells to regenerate. Exfoliate the skin on a weekly basis. Don’t just focus on your face. It’s important to scrub the whole body.
