What is Necessary for a Beautiful Smile?

image-1-6With selfies and cameras all around us, having a camera-ready smile is a great thing. However, you don’t have to be a celebrity in order to have a beautiful smile in any given situation, not just for taking pictures. There are simple ways of improving your smile, but it might take you some time to master it. Start with these several tips and tricks and you will manage to perfect your smile and look stunning.

Being natural

Beautiful smiles are all about being natural and relaxed. A genuine smile is the most stunning smile so whenever it’s picture time try to relax and think of something happy. Relax your face, slightly open your mouth and match the curve of the lower lip with the curve of your upper teeth. This way you will manage to avoid squinty eyes and tension in your neck muscles which can make your smile look too awkward and not genuine at all.

Healthy lips

Your lips are the frame of your smile and they need to look good too. Keep them well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water each day. If you are a smoker, quit, because cigarettes only dry your lips, encourage wrinkles and create dark stains. Avoid licking your lips, because saliva has irritating acids which remove natural oils from your lips. Additionally, don’t exfoliate the lips like you exfoliate your skin because the skin of the lips cannot regenerate as fast as your facial skin can. Lastly, don’t be afraid to put some colour on them to avoid a pale smile.

Caring for your gums

A healthy and beautiful smile will need gums with the same features. Gum disease, such as periodontal disease, is very common and it is harmful both for your teeth and your smile. Also, unhealthy gums cause bad breath and if they are not treated immediately the gums will reduce, making your teeth appear longer and uglier. Just like you would take care of your teeth, you should brush after each meal and floss at least once a day. This way you will manage to remove food debris and dental plaque which are one of the initial causes of gum disease. Additionally, you can use mouthwash to disinfect your gums, but opt for one that has no alcohol.

Strong and healthy teeth

This will help you thoroughly clean your teeth from food debris and dental plaque which are responsible for many mouth, teeth and gum diseases. Also, don’t smoke. Cigarettes leave stains and encourage tooth and gum decay. Avoid food that can harm your teeth and refrain from drinking soft drinks and other sugary beverages because they are extremely harmful for your smile. However, if you already have some issues with your teeth, a healthy diet and hygiene will not help you. Your best option is visiting a cosmetic dentist in Sydney and going for regular checkups to explore all of your options.

Practice

image-4-4A perfect smile cannot happen overnight. Whether you need to master it for your photos or you simply want to improve it, you will need to practice. Take a mirror and see how you look when you smile. Adjust anything that is needed and try out different smiles for different situations. Don’t forget to stand up straight to avoid the double chin when smiling, adjust your eyes to avoid squinting and try to look natural and relaxed. It might take you some time, but if you make an effort, you will master the most beautiful smile.

To have a perfect smile you need to make an effort. Besides practicing, you have to take good care of your teeth and gums and you will look stunning each time you reveal your teeth.
