Teenager Bedrooms – They’re Child’s Play!
Once your child hits their teenage years, you might find that their tastes will probably change. They will completely overhaul their look in order to look a lot cooler, and their fashion tastes might seem to change before your very eyes! Not only that, though, but their idea of what constitutes good décor could also drastically alter. Sooner or later, you will find that your teenager starts begging you for a new bedroom! Don’t worry; it’s not too difficult to come up with a newly decorated bedroom that your teenager will like. Here are some tips to make it child’s play.

Ask Them For Their Ideas
Your child is almost all grown up now, so it is important that you treat them like an adult. And one way you can show them that you fully respect them is by asking for their ideas for their bedroom. After all, it is their very own space so they should have some say in the finished look of the room. Chat to them about their thoughts of different color schemes and furniture. Even if you aren’t completely happy with their choices, you should try and come to a compromise so that both of you are happy.
Consider Furniture Options
Your teenager will probably have some very strong opinions when it comes to the furniture in their new bedroom. They might want some cool new additions, such as a cabin bed or a great foam chair. Again, as I’ve already mentioned, it’s worth trying to come to a compromise about the furniture that goes into your teenager’s bedroom. Also, as their schoolwork will soon get quite serious, it could be worth making sure there are some practical pieces in there, such as a work desk so that they can do their homework in peace.
Make Sure It Is Multipurpose
Once your teenager hits a certain age, they won’t just be using their bedroom for sleeping anymore. It will also become a space for studying and hanging out with friends. So it’s important that you take this into consideration when you plan the design. Make sure there is plenty of space that your teen can utilize for these other activities, and that the room cleverly combines comfort and practicality.
Keep It Fun
Your teen won’t want a design that is too sophisticated or elegant – they are way too young for that right now! Instead, keep the design and décor fun and playful. There are different ways you could do this. For example, you can just keep all the colors that you use bold and bright. Alternatively, rather than sticking to block colors, you and your teen might prefer the idea of using patterns. You can either get some patterned wallpaper or paint your own using wall stencils.
I know lots of parents who worry about decorating their teenager’s bedroom. They fear that their teen will get grumpy and could dislike the design. Well, hopefully, this blog post will help you create a room that everyone loves!
